Wynk Music Crosses 50 million Users Milestone

Wynk Music, the OTT music app from Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”), today said that it has crossed the 50 million app installs mark, underlining its growing popularity amongst music lovers in India. 

Wynk music now plays appx. one billion songs per month. The app has seen number of daily songs streamed grow by 200% over the last one year and its users are spending more average daily time on the app. 



As per App Annie data, Wynk now has the highest* number of active daily users in its category. It also has the largest* share of category time amongst all music streaming apps in India. The average daily time spent on the app by users has grown by 25% over last year, making Wynk one of the most active mobile apps in India across all categories.

Wynk is amongst the most downloaded music streaming apps in India with close to 100,000 daily installs. 45% of the overall Wynk users are non-Airtel customers, making it one of the largest carrier agnostic platforms from a telco globally.

OPPO Company Sacks Chinese Employee For Tearing India Flag

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo today sacked one of its employees Suhahu for allegedly tearing a photograph of the India flag in the offices premises in Noida. Suhahu, a Chinese national, tore the photo of the flag which was pasted on a wall and threw it in a dustbin. Oppo's action comes a day after the incident kicked up a furore and thousands of employees protested against Suhahu's act of disrespect towards the national flag.


It said that Oppo has deep respect for India and its culture and the company continues to obey the applicable laws and regulations in India and will not tolerate any misconduct. The company saw massive protests over the Chinese national's action. He is a production manager in the company's Noida sector 63 office.

Protests began outside the company's office on Monday evening after Suhahu allegedly tore a poster with a picture of the India flag which was pasted on a wall of the office. The flag was put up on the wall on January 26, when the company celebrated Republic Day.

Many workers on Tuesday assembled and protested outside the company office against the company management for disrespecting the national flag, demanded suspension and strict police action against Suhahu. The area was cleared after senior officers of the district administration intervened. Police registered a case for showing disrespect to the national flag, based on a complaint filed by the company employees against Suhahu.

Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Yadav told IANS that the employees were already sore over their grievances not being addressed by the executives, such as defaulting on overtime payment, violation of labour laws, security and other issues. He said the police on Wednesday examined the CCTV of the production house and company on the incident.

Senior officials, including Yadav, District Magistrate NP Singh as well as the Labour Commissioner held a meeting with the Oppo executives. Earlier, China said it expected that the rights of the Chinese companies as well as the employees would be protected in India.

Talking to reporters in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang said the Chinese government expects Chinese firms to follow local laws and respect local practices and customs. Lu also said the Chinese company was in touch with the police.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform Powers Gigabit LTE And Immersive Experiences On Samsung Galaxy S8

Qualcomm Technologies today announced that its premium mobile platform is powering Samsung’s latest and most sophisticated flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8, for select regions. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdrago 835 Mobile Platform, featuring the first commercial SoC manufactured using 10nm FinFET technology, and which integrates the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem. This powerful platform allows the Galaxy S8 to support Gigabit LTE, for fiber-optic Internet speeds on the go, and more consistent mobile data performance in more places. 


The Galaxy S8 is the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning technology for carrier aggregation, designed to deliver a more consistent voice and data experience, indoors and outdoors. Panasonic has launched two new smartphones  in India,  the Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X and they come with Arbo AI assistant. The Panasonic smartphones Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X available exclusively on Flipkart priced at Rs. 11,499 (32GB), Rs.12,499 (64GB) and Rs. 8,999 respectively.


The Eluga Ray Max weighs a mere 165 gms and sports a 16 MP rear camera with professional mode and an 8 MP front camera with a selfie flash, a feature which enables the user to take perfect selfies even in the darkest spots. Specifications and schematics of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 leaked

There has been a lot of buzz around the Galaxy S8 and in just a couple of days the flagship smartphone will go official. Almost everything about the upcoming device has been revealed, however that is not the only high-end smartphone from the Korean tech giant.


The Note series has been one of the most popular devices and last year, the Galaxy Note 7 saw an unfateful death due to bad implementation of the battery. This year however, expectations are higher than ever. All eyes are going to be on the new Note 8 and Samsung will have to pull of something brilliant to gain its consumer’s trust.

Early leaks of the upcoming handset have emerged and its fair to say, it sounds promising. The Note 8 could be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor or Samsung’s new Exynos 9-series chipset, depending on the region. The leak also says 6GB of RAM, up to 256GB of internal storage, a 6.4-inch QHD+ or 4K Super AMOLED display.

Schematics of the handset have also leaked which reveal that the Note 8 could come with a curved display similar to the Galaxy S8 including minimal top and bottom bezels. However it will be sharper. There will be an iris sensor, Samsung’s Bixby assistant, just as it is predicted for the Galaxy S8. It will also feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and of course the S Pen.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Press Renders Leaked

Recently, a leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi 6 tipped the arrival of a dual camera setup at the back. Now, fresh renders further testify the same feature, while also revealing other design details. The Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship has been subjected to many delays, however the latest leak hints at an April 11 launch date. 


The images were leaked on Weibo, and Techiestate. The pure black variant shown in the images reiterates the chamfered edges design at the back. The images also show that the volume and power buttons are housed on the right edge of the Mi 6. Furthremore, the Xiaomi Mi 6 has the flash located first on the left edge, followed by the two camera sensors at the back in one horizontal line. The report also points to an April 11 launch for the Xiaomi Mi 6.

According to earlier reports, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to come in three variants, and the premium variant is expected to sport a dual curved display as well. The flagship was earlier tipped to initially launch with a Snapdragon 821 SoC, and it was said the launch of the most premium Xiaomi Mi 6 with the Snapdraagon 835 SoC could be delayed till May this year.

As for specifications, the most premium variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6 has been tipped to sport a Quad HD 2K OLED display with dual curved edges, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of inbuilt storage, and dual rear camera setup. The most basic variant was tipped to sport 4GB of RAM, and 64GB inbuilt storage. Previous leaks suggest that the handset will house a 4000mAh battery and be priced at around CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,000).

Samsung Launches Its Mobile Payments Service Samsung Pay in India

Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its flagship mobile payments service, Samsung Pay, in India. Simple and Secure, Samsung Pay can be used to make purchases almost everywhere you can swipe or tap your debit or credit card to make payments.


Apart from allowing users in India to simply tap and pay on the go using their registered cards, Samsung Pay has integrated Paytm as well as the government’s Unified Payments Interface into the app. Samsung has also created a unique digital payment ecosystem by partnering with a number of issuers and card networks. Our Card Network and Issuer partners include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Card and Standard Chartered Bank. Citibank India is a forthcoming issuer and its credit cards will be live on Samsung Pay shortly.

Samsung Pay is a highly secure platform as it works with three levels of security—fingerprint authentication, card tokenization and Samsung’s defense-grade mobile security platform Samsung KNOX.

To launch Samsung Pay, a user needs to swipe up on an eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphone, select the card, authenticate using a fingerprint or PIN and bring the phone near the Point of Sale terminal.

Samsung Pay works with Samsung’s patented Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology as well as with Near Field Communication (NFC). MST replicates a card swipe by wirelessly transmitting magnetic waves from the supported Samsung device to a standard card reader. Through MST, Samsung pay will work seamlessly on a majority of Point of Sale terminals in India.

With its ‘Make for India’ initiative, Samsung is committed to building tailored products and services, customized to meet the needs of Indian consumers. Samsung Pay provides a mobile payment option built natively on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), a payment system launched by the National Payments Corporation of India. The Samsung Pay UPI solution is powered by Axis Bank and facilitates peer-to-peer (P2P) transfer of funds between bank accounts on a mobile platform instantly. This is an upcoming feature within Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay also allows Indian consumers to integrate their Paytm accounts into Samsung Pay, enabling them to pay by scanning QR codes securely, generating one-time codes for merchant payments and also do peer to peer money transfers.

Samsung Pay will also be available on the Samsung Gear S3 Smartwatch shortly, allowing users to pay through their wearable device. Idea-Vodafone merger: The $23 bn deal

The $23 billion Vodafone-Idea Cellular merger, which is touted to become India’s largest telecom firm, has cleared just one hurdle in the intense war simmering in the sector after the entry of Reliance Jio in September.


The move towards consolidation by Idea and Vodafone as announced on Monday with their merger has shaken the arena and more such mergers are expected.

However, Idea and Vodafone have a few stiles to leap over, even with the size the merged entity commands.

Vodafone and Idea Cellular have clear brand identities. British telecom major Vodafone is seen as ultra modern which is preferred by customers in the cities across the country. Apple officially announces (RED) iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Apple today has taken the wraps off of a new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The device was unveiled alongside a new iPad and a new social video editing app.


Apple made the announcement in a press release, which contained quotes from Tim Cook and offered up more details on the (RED) initiative.

It’s unclear how many PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 7 units Apple plans to make. The device carries a “Special Edition” price tag and the company tells Mashable it plans to make “a bunch” of them:

Logitech Introduces the all new Z337- The First Desktop Speaker

Logitech has announced the launch of Logitech Z337 Bold Sound with Bluetooth, the company’s first speaker for the home that allows you to easily stream audio from any Bluetooth enabled computer, tablet or smartphone, and switch between them effortlessly.


With 80 watts peak power, this speaker system brings all your favourite content to life with clear sound and strong bass. In addition to the wireless connection, the users get to use the conventional ways by connecting  the Logitech Z337 to your content source via either a 3.5mm or RCA input - so it’s easy to hook up to a monitor, a computer or video game console, while still enjoying wireless connectivity with other devices.
