Honor 5c Review: Completely Worth It

Huawei's Honor 5c is the latest mid-range smartphone from the rising Chinese manufacturer that aims to bring latest features and highest possible performance at an affordable price point. Honor 5c has an impressive hardware packed in a beautiful 5.2 inch part metal, part plastic frame. The phone runs Android Marshmallow powered by the Emotion UI.

Design
The Honor 5c is a beautiful looking phone and has this premium looking feel, thanks to its metal finish. The best thing about the design is the size which makes it very easy to hold and use the phone. On the back there is the 13-megapixel camera with flash, which is a bump and protrudes out a little. The fingerprint sensor is also placed right below the camera. The volume rocker and power buttons are placed towards the right, while on the left sits the SIM card tray. The 3.5mm audio jack is placed on top while the USB port and grill speakers are towards the bottom.

Usage and performance
The 5.2 inch screen has a good mix of colours, thanks to its 1080x1920 pixel resolution along with a 423ppi pixel density. The display stays legible even in sunlight and reproduces a good amount of sharpness and colour. The fingerprint sensor at the back is lightning fast and works even when the screen is not on. The Emotion EMUI 4.1 OS is simple and clean and offers a ton of customization options. It has also implemented all features for the fingerprint sensor, which can also be configured to trigger photos and start the video recorder, show the notification panel, lock apps and plenty more.

Camera & battery
The Huawei Honor 5C comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash along with an 8MP front facing camera. The auto-focus was also suitably fast and the phone had a wealth of shot options. Images taken in well-lit conditions come out sharp and crisp but images in low-light scenarios were less than impressive. The Honor 5C is powered by a 3000 mAh battery.  It offers an Ultra Power Saving Mode as well, for times when you really want to stretch the battery life. The phone, with moderate usage will easily last you a day. 

Final verdict
The Good
- 5.2 inch is an ideal phone size to use (my opinion)
- Packed with all good features for a mid-level phone
- Latest Android and a good camera and excellent battery.
The bad
- Camera bump which forces you to use a case
- EMUI 4.1 a little clunky and not pleasing to use.

Overall the phone is a good buy for around the 10k range that has all features and looks premium.

Honor 8 Launched In China, Features Dual 12MP Rear Camera

Honor has launched its flagship Honor 8 Smartphone in China. The smartphone features the dual 12MP rear camera first seen on Huawei P9.

Honor 8 features a 5.2 inch Full HD display and is powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor. The smartphone comes with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. These basic specifications make it identical to Huawei P9.

Honor 8 is 7.45 mm thick and weighs 153 grams and its runs EMUI 4.1 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It also comes with a rear fingerprint scanner with support for multiple modes.

Honor's flagship device Honor 7 launched for Rs 22,999

Honor launched its flagship smartphone, Honor 7 smartphone at an event in Delhi. The fully-metallic device has a 5.2-inch full hd 1080p display. It comes equipped with fingerprint scanner which boasts of smarter fingerprint technology and allows 360-degree fingerprint authentication from various angles. The reader also supports intuitive gesture control that enables users to do everything from answering calls to take photos to check notifications. It also provides a solution that requires a smaller fingerprint touch area and screen unlock within shortest timespan of  0.5 seconds.

Honor also unveiled its Band Z1, priced at Rs 5,499, slated for sale by the end of October. Honor Band Z1 has a circular design with brushed metal bezel around the corners and display at the center. The band is dust proof and water resistant and has been accredited with IP68. Combined with MyFitnessPal app, the band also comes loaded with features like: call reminding, SMS notification, calorie consumption tracker, calendar function and includes a three day battery life. 

Honor India is the first mobile handset brand to incorporate a pre-embedded SOS feature in the phone. It can be activated by pressing the power button and shaking the phone as well as other combination of buttons. This feature will be made available in the first batch of Honor 7.

The handset is powered by HiSilicon octa-core Kirin 935 processor with its A53 coupled with 3GB RAM. It has an 16GB inbuilt memory and houses a decent 3,100mAh battery. The smartphone sports a 20 MP rear facing camera powered by a Sony IMX 230 sensor and Honor’s PDAF fast-focusing technology and an 8MP front-facing camera which offers a wide-angle f/2.4 aperture lens and built-in LED flash. 

An additional button placed on the left-side of the device can be used for snappy Google searches on-the-go. The Honor 7 also has an interesting feature, for taking screenshots easier with its knuckle-tap feature, through which users need only tap on the screen twice with their knuckles for an instant full-screen capture. 

The Honor 7 will be available in two colors, Mystery Gray and Fantasy Silver at the retail price of Rs. 22,999. It will be available from 15th October, 2015 and will be exclusively sold on Flipkart.
