HOOQ, Asia's Video-On Demand Service Debuts In India For Rs 199/Month

HOOQ announced that it will kick off in India from June for Rs 199 a month. HOOQ is a start-up joint venture between Singtel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros. It will allow its customers to enjoy unlimited online streaming access and an offline viewing option to top Hollywood and Indian movie and television content, via any device including computers, smartphones, tablets and Android set-top boxes.


Customers can enjoy more than 5,000 Hollywood movies and TV shows including titles from Sony, Warner Bros., Disney,Dreamworks, and Miramax such as Harry Potter, Iron Man, Pulp Fiction, and TV series such as Friends, Grey’s Anatomy to name a few.

HOOQ also offers customers an extensive range of over 10,000 Indian film and TV shows. To deliver this, HOOQ has tied up with YRF, UTV Disney, Rajshri, Reliance, Shemaroo, Sri Balaji, and over 50 other studios. Hooq also plans to offer region content from South Asian countries like India, China, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Korea.

With a subscription pack of Rs 199 per month, customers can use the app up to five devices and two device can stream it simultaneously. You can also download movies and view it later in offline mode via the HOOQ app. 

Spuul, Ditto TV, Bigflix and Hotstar are a few players in Indian market as of now. The HOOQ app will be available for Android and iOS devices and Windows PC. The service will also be accessible to all customers in India through its website.
