UC Browser’s Miss Cricket Campaign Makes Debut on billboard at New York Times Square

After almost 2 months of fierce competition, UC Miss Cricket Contest, an exciting campaign from UC Browser, has come to an end, with the winner Nishi Singh featuring on a billboard at New York Times Square. The 21-year old new rising star has also received cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, while the first runner-up Pari Sharma and second runner-up Aishwarya Singh have won Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. The 3 winners have also made an appearance on the Indian edition of Vogue magazine.


UC Miss Cricket is India’s first online beauty contest driven only by users vote, without intervention from judges. Winner Nishi Singh, TV beauty from Mumbai, got the maximum “likes” on UC Browser for her warm and friendly personality.

On winning the UC Miss Cricket contest, Nishi Singh said: “Not just winning the competition, it has been a great journey altogether during the entire campaign of UC Miss Cricket 2018. I would like to thank UC Browser from the bottom of my heart for giving me this platform and helping me reach so many people. UC Miss Cricket Campaign is driving increased Content Consumption and Engagement on UC Browser by Young Users

UC Browser witnessed a jump of 50% unique visitors during the recently concluded IPL 2018. Having transformed itself into a leading content distribution platform, UC Browser provided cricket fans with over 2.5 lakh articles, to meet the increased demand for specialized content from users. The total page views saw a jump of 24% this cricket season and the users spent 10% more time catching up on cricket news versus last year. With more interesting voting and engagement brought by the first edition of UC Miss Cricket Contest this year, the campaign contributed towards the highest single day page views of 220 million for the IPL Cricket related content and total engagement of 45 million on UC Browser.

The success of the first UC Miss Cricket Contest also created buzz on social media platforms. YouTubers Lalit Shokeen, Round2Hell and Madras Central added to the craze with their videos, generating combined views of a whopping 7.8 million.  Hashtags #MissCricket and #KeepScoring were also trending on Twitter while the video from Lalit Shokeen trended No. 1 on YouTube and Round2Hell’s video trended at No. 2.

UC Browser signs deal with Twitter and Microsoft Bing for cricket content

UC Browser has joined hands with Twitter and Microsoft Bing to provide a mobile gateway to all things cricket ahead of the all-exciting cricket season.



UC Cricket, first introduced in 2013 to offer news and updates about cricket matches, has now evolved to become a comprehensive cricket content platform with over 100% growth in the average daily visitors from the year earlier. UC Cricket now provides complete cricket content such as live score, news, videos, live tweets, photo, stats, previews, commentaries, etc., making it the ideal platform for cricket fans.

The partnership aims to reshape the digital cricket content landscape. According to the partnership, Twitter will provide live, public, and conversational content related to cricket matches on UC Cricket. UC Cricket also comes with a series of new features, including a floating widget called UC Express which allows user to access cricket content immediately, and Customizable Notification which enables users to subscribe the upcoming game for push notification update when the game starts.

Meizu announces partnership with UC Browser

Earlier last month, Meizu had announced its partnership with UC Browser, India’s No. 1 mobile browser. As a part of the partnership, Meizu and UC Browser had jointly announced the launch of #UCSecretparty contest that received an overwhelming response, with over 1.2 crore (12.8 million) users taking part in the contest. 



As a part of the contest, Meizu gave away 30 Meizu m2’s and 50 earphones, selected lucky winners also won passes to UC Web’s Secret Party to celebrate the New Year of 2016. The contest garnered attention on social media with celebrities including Yuvraj Singh, Nehu Dhupia and Ranvijay tweeting about it. The party saw presence of many app-lovers, bloggers, tech geeks, netizens and party animals.

UC Browser had announced a New Year Party where it opened a platform to invite selected UC Browser fans, users and online influencers. To be a part of the party, users had to participate in the UC Browser contest on its Facebook page. To participate, users simply had to press a button to register their chance for winning the passes to the secret party. 

UC Web, the developer behind UC Browser, and smartphone maker Meizu, jointly launched the contest game in December 2015 to add to the year-end festivities and spread cheer. UC Browser is India’s No.1 mobile browser with over 54% market share (as per StatCounter).

UC Browser is the third most popular app in India

According to a report provided by Quettra, UC Browser is the 3rd most used app in India after Facebook and WhatsApp. Indian users spend five million more monthly hours on UC Browser than on Chrome. UC Browser also outruns the app of Google in terms of total monthly hours spent in India. Apart from UC Browser, UC Browser Mini and UC Browser HD are among the top 6 browser app list in India.



UC Browser is also the world's No.1 third-party mobile browser with over 16% market share, according to StatCounter, an independent analytics firm. The browser has it clocked in more than half of mobile browsing market share (54.42%, per StatCounter) in October 2015 in India and attained a share of 49.05% (per StatCounter) in October 2015 in Indonesia, the second and third populous country in Asia.

The popularity of UC Browser attributes to its fast speed and easy access to local content and services.
