Review: Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro controller

We all have a small kid who lives within us. For those who grew up playing Mario, tank and other games, gaming is somewhat embedded in our genes and doesn't seem to leave us as adults. Back to the future, we enjoy playing video on our android phone or tablets, don't we? But what about the touch pad that just doesn't seem to give you the feel of the good old gaming days.

With more than 120 million Indian calling themselves 'Gamers' this year, there is a need to a better Android gaming solution. Finally, the Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro seems to be the answer. A decent game controller for a price of Rs 2,799 is far from a steal.

Though it resembles the video game controller like the one you would see on an Xbox 360, it can be paired with your Android phone, tablet and even Android-based smart TV via Bluetooth for a superior gaming experience. All you need to do is to simply download the Amkette app from the Google PlayStore which is hardly a pain. Once paired, you can enjoy a wide range of games such as FIFA, Modern Combat, Asphalt and more. The Evo Gamepad app lists more than 350 games from all genres for Android devices.

Gamepad controllers are required to be built and designed keeping the ergonomics and functionality in mind. Being light, Amkette Evo Gamepad Pro is comfortable to handle and has a good grip that makes playing games for hours feel comfortable. The Gamepad comes with a physical trigger, bumper buttons, D-pad and dual analogue sticks. The console has a dedicated holster that can comfortably accommodate phones with screens up to 5.5 inches. A series of LED lights, a micro USB connector and a on/off button are located below the ‘flip out’ stand. It comes with a 400mAh rechargeable Li-Polymer Battery.

The FlipSide
The Gamepad Pro only works with Android. It doesn't work with iPhones & iPads, Blackberry or Windows Phone devices. Secondly, the left analogue stick is present on the top-left corner making it slightly inconvenient while playing simulation-based games.
